I swore I’d never…

Today I did something I swore I’d never do.  I signed up for Twitter.  I hated the idea of hearing about every stupid thing someone does all day, like using the bathroom, losing their car keys or having a PMS episode.  But I did it under duress in order to excel “in the mart of competitive commerce.”  I love that movie.  I set up Twitter, then HootSuite to manage Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn from one location.  Last year on our mountain bike trip to Fruita we discussed Twitter.  Tim Shaw said he likes to use Twitter as a way to see what his favorite companies are doing.  I made fun of him then, but today I added Glock, Leatherman, REI, Cabela’s, Alterbridge and a few others.  I see the value if following your favorite companies.  Tim Shaw became my first official follower.  I won’t make fun of him anymore.

Eagle Scout Mentor pin

Last night was Coulton Zaelit’s Eagle Scout Court of Honor.  I worked with Coulton as a Scout leader last year.  Coulton’s grandfather was with us and earned his Eagle in 1945.  It was interesting to see a display of how the merit badges have changed.  Coulton presented me with the Eagle Scout Mentor pin.  I didn’t know such a thing existed, but it was a great honor.

WordPress conversion

This is my conversion from Blogger to WordPress.  I am converting so I can learn how to use WP to create my own web pages.

I didn’t want to leave this as a comment, so I am editing this post.  I’ve spent the last hour playing with the Dashboard and trying to learn the WP system.  I love how I was able to modify the Adventure Journal template.  I love adventure, and I have kept a daily journal for over 20 years, so I thought this was the perfect template.  I love the beach picture I found on Google for the Header.  I would love to be there right now.

2011 vs. 2012

I was 10 or 11 when Rocky III came out.  I talked my mom in to letting me see it alone at the Century 5 theater because I didn’t want to go watch Annie with the rest of my siblings.  Good call.  I thought it was a great movie, and later that year Rocky was on TV.  My mom rented Rocky II for me shortly after that.  I still love the story of Rocky’s downfall and redemption.  I would watch boxing if it were really as exciting as the Rocky fights.  Every time I think of 2011 I feel like this-
I’m hoping that 2012 will look more like this-
